Exclamation Greetings!

Greetings old friends!

During a recent day of low productivity, I came across and took a spin through the Looter's Lair website. First off, I'm amazed that it's still there, and I'd like to thank whoever is footing the bill for it!

It's been years and years since we shared adventures together, but I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who was a part of that time. To this day I'm amazed how an online game took strangers from across the map and brought them together in order to harass others (who took life too seriously) and enjoy a ton of great laughs.

If you haven't visited the website lately, I highly recommend that you revisit it.

If anyone is still checking out these boards, I'd love to hear what you are up to nowadays. I still consider you all my friends, and you never know where we'll meet up next. The world's not as big as it might seem.

I'm currently living in Orlando, Florida and though I'm not currently participating in any online games, I'd love to hear what the current hot game is. After all, once a griefer, always a griefer.

All the best, Gents!

Neut!! sup buddy! I know we didn't play together much, as I came over pretty late, but that was by far the most fun I've had in UO.

Darkfall, if you remember that, was actually not vaporware and released in first quarter 2009 if I remember that right. I played a month of beta before release, and have had a lot of fun. The game is far from perfect, but its a work in progress and I think theyre doing it the right way with how they are building the game. The game is still full loot and open PvP with no safe zones since even guard towers can be guarded against with arcane jewelry and enough team or even self healing. While it is a full loot and open pvp sandbox MMO (that lacks some sand, but much coming in the next expansion it sounds like) they have really balanced it and protected people to a reasonable degree to most things, making it challenging but not impossible to kill anyone anywhere at any time, or steal a ship, or warhulk, siege cities, general mischief and such. Quite a good balance, and looking back its what UO lacked that brought about trammel tbh.

There have been multiple bugs, issues, delays, exploits, and hacks which are mostly gone now. Still they've never had to roll back the server any amount for anything since release (unless im forgetting anything) and theyve done about 1 free expansion every 6 months, with the third and by far largest set tentatively for July 18th. Large amounts of very good changes/fixes/additions and most of the old player base considers this expansion the end of beta. We'll see if they do well with it, but it sounds good so far.

Lots can be found to read about it if you or anyone else should want to. www.darkfallonline.com is the game's website, go to forums and anything important is in the news and spotlight forum. The most recent spotlight on fun hulks and placeable flags is by far the worst, does not reflect anything else that is coming in the expac which up until then was good shit like new advanced leather armor for hybrids, more skill specializations, new specialized mounts, etc. Its impossible to sit here and write all that is planned to be in the expansion tho.

Getting used to fps was a huge challenge, and a big reason why I still havent really done a whole ton of pvp. Now that I'm much more used to it and have revamped my bindings and ui shit to be much smoother I will be taking trips around the map binding at chaos stones and cities randomly pk'ing. Should be fun lol. Grake has been playing for a little while, somewhere with some clan. Bet he's had alot more action than I've had at this point heh. I can't wait until I have the time to do it, which should finally be very soon.

There is a free trial too :P

Yeah been rambling. But how have you been? I was just thinking about IPY the other day lol.

Hey what's up Neut! Good to hear from you after so long!

At the moment I'm not playing any MMO's. Still in Florida eh? Always nice to hear someone was able to escape from this terrible state!

We did have some fun back then for sure. I think back on those times with fondness on many occasions. I've recently become a father, and that has become my job, since my wife makes twice as much as I did due to there being no work in this shithole for someone with either of my 2 Bachelors.

Anyway cheers man! Oh and this is the age of facebook and twitter! I have facebook if anyone wants to add me let me know.

I lasted about 10 minutes. My laptop can run WoW and LoTRO at maximum but I got 4 fps on Darkfall. When I got it up to a nice 10 and I could actually walk around, that is all it was...WALKING! Granted The interface was completely different than I've used in the past but if there is one thing that throws me off completely is the first person view. I just don't like it at all.

lol 10 minutes wtf is that pussy bs? Thats not enough time to wipe my ass :/

Heres a thread that will help you immensely, titled "How to dramatically increase FPS" and stickied in the player discussion forum: http://forums.darkfallonline.com/sho...d.php?t=246753

Turn off ALL shadow settings, and I mean all. Turn down some other setting likes texture quality and such. Then follow the three additional tips found in that thread, including turning 3d soundsa all the way down, and you will be just fine.

Doing these steps takes me from 22 fps to 65 on my laptop, dell 2.0 dualcore (the game runs single core, so can also separate off DF on its own core without anything else, just like u can with wow) nvidia somethin with 256 for ram, and 4 gigs of ddr2 ram. Runs the game silky smooth and still looks fucking amazing compared to other games. Custom terrain ftw. If your computer can play WoW it will play DF smoother. It is a less demanding MMO, as its made better, but thats another argument lol :/

Lol longer than 10 min ass wipe? Might want to see a doctor!

Honestly the First Person view is what gets me. I hate FP games. ALso I knew I was just going to give it a shot. I don't really play games much anymore.

A season on MLB 10 The Show with my brother has been the most I've done lol.
